BestBuy made a boo boo. In their original Black Friday 2009 ad, they feature the Samsung 26 cu. ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator as being on sale for $1399 in-stores this Friday, however, we were notified that this was an error and that the fridge will actually be $1699.
The refrigerator retails for $2399, so we think that the $1699 price is still pretty good, but we’re a little disappointed with BestBuy for not owning up to the mistake and selling the refrigerator for $1399. It also seems as if BestBuy is just creating more of a headache for their employees. Can you imagine having to tell all the Black Friday shoppers expecting to get the Samsung Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator that it’s suddenly $300 more? Yikes.
Thanks to Mike for giving us the scoop on the price change.

[...] Perhaps the worst Black Friday deal goes to BestBuy. BestBuy screwed up the price of a popular refrigerator in their ad and then back-tracked – they won’t honor the [...]
i also remember them advertising the HP Laptop for 129.00 and now it’s 179.00… this was both on tv and a flyer
I remember one year they did the same thing on a printer they had advertised, and when I got there the pricw was different, but they would not honor the coupon, so I stoppped shopping there. I think it sucks
We bought this fridge on sale at Lowe’s for $1398. It was a pre-Black Friday deal. We had actually seen the Best Buy ad and subsequent cancellation of such and immediately jumped on the one at Lowe’s. It’s back ordered a couple weeks but we don’t mind one bit.
Too bad Best Buy, we hopped over to Home Depot and got this Maytag for under a $1000.

sounds less like mere accidents and more like a habit. an acceptable variation on the ‘ole bait and switch perhaps.
Didn’t know this. In line at Best Buy at 4:30 am only to find the bait and switch. I was tempted, but ended up leaving empty handed. What a start for the holidays.
The $1398 fridge at lowes is NOT the same fridge. It doesnt have the pull out deli tray, it has less movable shelves, it does not have clear crisper drawers, and has less door partitions than the one at best buy.
But, for 1398, plus an easily obtainable 10% off coupon, its a monster deal.
Guess we got lucky. Bought the Samsung fridge at Best Buy for $1399, even though it rang up $1699. Sales associate modified the price, no problem.
We stood in line for this deal for 4 hours. It is still a good price for this fridge, but the worst part is they didn’t mention the change when you fill out the 18 month same as cash financing, so the approved amount was lower than the total ended up being and by the time we were at the checkout they were done processing financing, so not only was it an extra $300 but no 18 month financing.
I bought the sanyo laptop online for $399. on Thursday morning. I recieved a confirmation email…2 hours later a back-ordered email and 2 hours later a we’re sorry email we oversold it too bad email. I called the customer care number and they told me their system was partly down, but the nearest store was 2 hours away and had 2 in stock, good luck, the store said, “nope, stock is wrong…sorry”, you can get an acer.
The sales rep at my Best Buy gave me the fridge for 1,098 to compensate for my inconvenience and their error. Thanks, Best Buy. I can’t wait for your next sale.
Well, I was also extremely disappointed that Best Buy would not honor the 26.0 Samsung Refrigerator at the $1399 price. I asked to speak to a Manager and the General Manager came over. He explained that it was a misprint, however the sales asso. told me that Samsung would not honor their end of the deal. Regardless of the reason, Best Buy should have done the right thing and stepped up and took care of it’s customers. I have been a Silver Reward member for 3 years and that means nothing to Best Buy. I guess they would rather loose a long time customer, (bought all my home appliances from Best Buy) then to lose $300. What a shame. I will hold a negative impression of Best Buy from now on.
I stood in line all night to purchase the Sony laptop for $399, the ad indicated it was a dual core processor but I just discovered it is a single core…not happy
They Knew about the advertisement errors on November 20th and still allowed it to be printed with the Nov-26 newspapers for the Nov 27-28 sale. When I took this issue to the store manager, I was shown an email from corporate, dated Nov-20, that the prices were not correct and they would not be honoring the prices. The email also says to not put up signage regarding the price changes until Black Friday. I PUT THE EMAIL in my pocket and have it on my desk. It clearly shows deception on many items. The Samsung Washer & Dryer, advertised for 50% Off from 1200 to $600 each were also not available. The email says to urge customers to purchase the LG model which has SOME of the same features…..THIS IS BULLSH*T.
I was able to purchase the Samsung refridgerator for $1399 as well as the Samsung washer and dryer for $600 each. The sales associate showed me the Black Friday ad. I purchased from Best Buy instead of Sears because the delivery charge was half of Sears price. They were also able to deliver all my appliances in a week.
Best Buy sucks, I quit shopping there long ago!
